On May 9, as part of InfoTET Québec activities and organizations within the Temporary Migrant Workers Support Program (PSTM), more than 20 temporary foreign workers (TFWs) took part in a cultural outing organized by SOIT (Service d’orientation et d’intégration des immigrants au travail) at the prestigious Museum of Civilization.
This activity provided participants with a valuable opportunity to immerse themselves in the richness of Quebec culture and to better understand the history of the territory, from the first peoples present more than 75,000 years ago to contemporary Quebec.
Originally from Mexico, Colombia, and Guatemala, the participating TFWs — mainly working in the hospitality sector and other service industries — enjoyed a one-hour guided tour offered in French and Spanish. Throughout the visit, questions, exchanges, and shared information sparked strong interest and curiosity among participants.
The day continued in a warm and friendly atmosphere with a quiz on Quebec expressions, followed by a lunch in the museum space, fostering exchanges and the creation of connections among participants.
As part of this activity, Nicolas Bellier, Project Director of InfoTET at Immigrant Québec, presented the InfoTET Québec program and distributed the informational guide intended for TFWs. This resource provides practical tools on the rights and obligations of temporary workers, as well as key information on services and resources available in the province. The exchange with participants was particularly enriching, making it possible to address their questions, identify needs, and strengthen InfoTET’s mission: to provide clear, accessible, and useful information to support temporary foreign workers throughout their stay in Quebec.
