As it does every year, Cégep de Granby hosted its annual Health Fair for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs), an event that has become an important gathering for workers across the region seeking information about the health, support, and integration services available to them during their stay in Quebec.
The event was jointly organized by Granby Industriel, Intégration Compétences, and (CAFLA) Centre d’aide aux familles latino-américaines, once again demonstrating the value of collaboration among community organizations, public institutions, and local partners committed to supporting the well-being and successful integration of Temporary Foreign Workers.
One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity for participants to receive free medical consultations provided on a volunteer basis by (CAFLA) Centre d’aide aux familles latino-américaines physician, as well as health consultations offered by clinical nurses from Santé Québec Estrie – Centre hospitalier universitaire de Sherbrooke. These services were highly appreciated by the workers in attendance.
Throughout the day, participants also attended a series of information sessions designed to introduce the many resources and services available to Temporary Foreign Workers. These presentations gave workers the opportunity to ask questions and receive practical guidance on various aspects of living and working in Quebec.
As part of the event, InfoTET by Immigrant Québec was presented by Nicolas Bellier, Project Director of InfoTET by Immigrant Québecc. His presentation introduced participants to the program’s main services, practical tools related to Temporary Foreign Workers’ rights and responsibilities, and the wide range of resources available throughout the province. The discussions were especially valuable, providing a better understanding of workers’ needs while reinforcing InfoTET by Immigrant Québec‘s mission of delivering clear, accessible, and practical information throughout their stay in Quebec.
Participants also attended presentations from several partner organizations, including Justice Pro Bono, (SIARI) Service d’Interprète, d’aide et de Référence aux immigrants, CNESST, (CAFLA) Centre d’aide aux familles latino-américaines, the Granby Police Service, and the Sûreté du Québec, whose representatives answered workers’ questions and explained the services they provide on a daily basis.
The Health Fair also benefited from the valuable collaboration of SERY Granby and the participation of the Consulate of Mexico, represented by its Consul for Protection, once again highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts among community organizations, public institutions, and consular representatives to provide comprehensive support to Temporary Foreign Workers.
The event concluded on an energetic note with a lively group activity that encouraged participants to end the day in a positive, welcoming, and engaging atmosphere.
