On July 12, Droit à l’emploi, service L’ANCRE organized a successful soccer tournament in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, bringing together nearly one hundred Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) for a day filled with community, recreation, and cultural connection.
Under beautiful summer weather, the participating teams competed in a spirit of friendship, respect, and sportsmanship. Beyond the matches themselves, the event gave participants the opportunity to connect with one another, share experiences, and enjoy a welcoming environment that supports their well-being and integration into the communities where they live and work.
The success of the event was made possible thanks to the dedication of Karla Dueñas, the entire Droit à l’emploi, service L’ANCRE team, and their many volunteers, whose professionalism and commitment ensured an outstanding day for everyone involved.
The event also benefited from the valuable participation of Cyclo Nord-Sud. Thanks to Josh Bankert and his volunteer team, several Temporary Foreign Workers received bicycle maintenance services. The team also prepared the four bicycles awarded during the raffle, along with many additional prizes that delighted participants throughout the day.
We also recognize the participation of representatives from the Consulates of Mexico and Guatemala, whose continued involvement reflects their commitment to supporting Temporary Foreign Workers from their respective communities.
InfoTET by Immigrant Québec was represented by Nicolas Bellier, who joined the consular representatives and Lyne Laplante, Executive Director of Droit à l’emploi, service L’ANCRE, in presenting medals to the tournament’s champion and finalist teams.
As part of the event, Nicolas Bellier, Project Director of InfoTET by Immigrant Québec, introduced the InfoTET program to participants. His presentation highlighted the main services available to Temporary Foreign Workers, practical information about their rights and responsibilities, and the resources accessible throughout Quebec. The discussions were especially meaningful, providing valuable insight into workers’ needs while reinforcing InfoTET by Immigrant Québec‘s mission of delivering clear, accessible, and practical information throughout their stay in Quebec.
Once again, this event demonstrated the importance of creating opportunities for people to connect, encouraging meaningful exchanges, and recognizing the essential contribution that Temporary Foreign Workers make to Quebec’s economic and social development.
