Mont-Laurier – Well-being and networking day for Temporary Foreign Workers at Les Entreprises PITRE

On Saturday, March 28, 2026, a discovery and well-being day was held in Mont-Laurier for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) employed by Les Entreprises PITRE. The activity took place in the town’s high school gymnasium, bringing participants together in an environment of social interaction, sports, and exchange.

The main objective of this initiative was to provide workers with a space different from their work environment, allowing them to share with colleagues, strengthen bonds, and take part in recreational activities that promote group cohesion. Sports, particularly soccer, became a key tool for connection, integration, and a positive moment of disconnection.

At the same time, the day included awareness sessions on mental health and public health, highlighting the importance of overall well-being, self-care, and prevention, especially for people living a migration experience far from their country of origin.

The participation of the Centre d’aide aux familles latino-américaines (CAFLA) made it possible to present an approach focused on the physical and emotional well-being of workers, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a healthy balance during their work experience in Québec. This type of gathering allows for meaningful discussions about the realities faced by TFWs on a daily basis.

The activity also included collaboration with the Interpreter, Service d’Interprète, d’Aide et de Référence aux Immigrants (SIARI) and Centre d’intégration en emploi Laurentides (CIE Laurentides), whose commitment and presence contributed significantly to the quality of support provided to participants. Their joint work with other stakeholders strengthens the community support network dedicated to temporary foreign workers.

Beyond the recreational aspect, the day stood out as a human space of connection, listening, and respect, where workers were able to share experiences and feel supported within their workplace and community.

From InfoTET’s perspective, this type of activity is fundamental in the holistic support of Temporary Foreign Workers. It not only promotes physical and mental health, but also strengthens a sense of belonging, social integration, and the creation of support networks essential to their well-being in Québec.

Furthermore, the collaborative work of participating organizations such as CAFLA, SIARI, and CIE Laurentides, among other stakeholders involved in the PSTM, is deeply recognized and valued. Their active commitment demonstrates the importance of network-based work and an intersectoral approach to responding more humanely and effectively to the needs of TFWs.

InfoTET from Immigrant Québec considers these initiatives both enriching and necessary, as they directly contribute to improving the quality of life of Temporary Foreign Workers, strengthening not only their professional experience but also their social and community integration in the Laurentides region and throughout Québec.
