Saint-Rémi Summer Soccer Tournament: Another Great Matchday for Temporary Foreign Workers

On Sunday, July 5, another matchday of the summer soccer tournament organized by Complexe X Immigration took place in Saint-Rémi, bringing together temporary foreign workers from several farms across the region. Most participants come from Guatemala, Mexico, and Honduras.

Each week, this sporting event provides temporary foreign workers holding employer-specific (closed) work permits with an opportunity to come together in a welcoming environment where sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork take center stage. Beyond the competition, the tournament allows workers to step away from their daily routine, reconnect with friends and colleagues from other farms, and enjoy a healthy and enjoyable recreational activity.

The tournament will continue every Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. through September 13, 2026. This free activity is an excellent example of an initiative that promotes well-being, social inclusion, and community connections among temporary foreign workers.

InfoTET d’Immigrant Québec was present with an information booth dedicated to presenting the program and its services. During the event, Jonathan Buitrago, Regional Coordinator, introduced the InfoTET Québec program and distributed the information guide for temporary foreign workers. This guide provides practical information on workers’ rights and responsibilities, as well as essential details about the services and resources available throughout Quebec.

InfoTET d’Immigrant Québec would like to thank Complexe X Immigration for organizing this initiative, which continues week after week to provide temporary foreign workers with a space that promotes well-being, physical activity, intercultural exchange, and a better quality of life. We wish all participating teams the very best for the remainder of the summer tournament.
