Pedaling Safely: A Workshop for Temporary Foreign Workers in Saint-Jean-Baptiste

On June 26th, in collaboration with Cyclo Nord-Sud and Intégration Compétences, the “Pedaling Safely” event was held for temporary foreign workers in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste region of Quebec. Many participants work in juice production companies and joined the workshop to learn about road safety and responsible bicycle use.

The event began with a presentation of the program and welcome guide, followed by an educational workshop covering cycling safety rules in Quebec, proper road behavior, and basic bike inspection. For several attendees, this was new information, as in many Latin American countries, the culture of respect for cyclists is still developing.

The importance of sharing the road and mutual respect between cyclists and drivers was also emphasized, considering that some workers do not use bikes but own vehicles.

To close the day, bike lights and air pumps were distributed to participants, promoting safety and well-being for those who pedal.

This initiative strengthens the commitment to integration, safety, and community care, helping all road users coexist in harmony and respect.
