On July 25, 2025, an informational workshop was held at Nortera, in collaboration with the Sûreté du Québec, bringing together around twenty temporary foreign workers (TFWs) from Guatemala. The initiative aimed to foster a better understanding of local laws and promote safe behaviors in daily life.
Several representatives participated to support this activity: the MRC of Rouville, Intégration Compétences, Sûreté du Québec, and Nortera.
During the workshop, essential topics for the daily life of TFWs were addressed, such as traffic safety rules, workplace accidents, bicycle riding, and appropriate behaviors to ensure their safety and that of others. The main goal was to break down barriers between workers and law enforcement, delivering a clear message: Sûreté du Québec is a trusted, accessible ally, ready to support foreign workers in their integration process.
InfoTET Québec actively participated in the event, represented by Nicolas Bellier, project director, and Jonathan Buitrago, regional coordinator, who took the opportunity to engage with the workers and reaffirm the organization’s commitment to human and accessible support.
In addition to the discussions, participants were invited to learn about the welcome guide, a valuable tool for better understanding their rights, available resources, and community rules in Quebec. Throughout the event, the importance of reading and familiarizing oneself with this document was emphasized.
Such initiatives greatly contribute to the smooth integration of temporary foreign workers, while also strengthening the bonds between the various parties involved in their support.
