On March 8, 2026, Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) had the opportunity to experience a memorable event: attending a Remparts de Québec hockey game at the Centre Vidéotron, organized by the Centre Multiethnique de Québec. Around fifteen TET participated in this activity, and for many of them, it was their first time attending a live professional hockey game.
During the activity, Alyssa Aubin, PSTM project coordinator, took the time to explain the rules of hockey to the participants, helping them better understand the flow of the game and fully enjoy the experience. The game featured the Remparts versus the Charlottetown Islanders, and the atmosphere was filled with excitement and camaraderie.
These sports activities go beyond entertainment—they play a crucial role in supporting the emotional well-being of TFWs. They help break daily routines, foster social connections with other workers, and reduce feelings of isolation, sadness, or depression that can arise when living far from family and home. Such events strengthen resilience and create a sense of belonging among participants.
During the event, Nicolas Bellier, Director of the InfoTET Immigrant Québec project, presented the InfoTET Québec program and distributed the information guide for TFWs. The guide provides practical tools on workers’ rights, obligations, and available resources. This interaction allowed participants to ask questions, share their experiences, and gain a better understanding of their realities, reinforcing InfoTET’s mission to provide clear and useful information throughout their stay in the province.
InfoTET extends special thanks to the Centre Multiethnique de Québec and Alyssa Aubin, PSTM project coordinator, for their organization and dedication, which made this enriching and memorable experience possible for the TFWs. Events like these highlight the importance of creating spaces for social integration, recreation, and discovery, contributing to the overall well-being of temporary foreign workers.
