Day of the Dead Celebration for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW)

On November 1st, we had the opportunity to celebrate the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead, an event intended not only for Mexican workers in the region but also for TFWs from other countries, in order to share and discover different cultural traditions.

To make this celebration a true success, Viviana Sánchez, program coordinator at Destination Entreprise, was able to count on the collaboration of several volunteer TFWs. The participants helped create a traditional altar and took part in a visual and musical presentation, explaining the meaning of this holiday. All of this was accompanied by the traditional pan de muerto and hot chocolate, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere.

The activity generated a lot of interest and enthusiasm, bringing together TFWs from countries such as Mexico, Colombia, France, Madagascar, Cameroon, and Mauritius. It was a unique opportunity to discover new cultures and strengthen connections among workers.

Jonathan Buitrago, regional coordinator of the InfoTFW program at Immigrant Québec, was also present. He took the opportunity to interact with the workers, listen to their experiences, and strengthen the existing support networks in the region. In addition, he distributed InfoTFW guides to provide essential information on resources, rights, and services available to temporary workers in Quebec.

During the event, a Mexican TFW expressed his gratitude for the program, mentioning that he had received assistance from CAFLA for a health issue. Although he had to travel to Montreal to be seen in person by a doctor, this help was very beneficial, especially because he had been unable to get an appointment before.

Testimonials like this show the concrete impact of our work with TFWs, not only on cultural integration but also on the practical and personalized support we can provide on a daily basis.

Thank you to all the TFWs who participated and helped make this celebration so special!
