On September 5, 2026, ABL Immigration organized a free soccer match at the Centre multisports de Rosemère, bringing together temporary foreign workers (TFWs) of different nationalities, including Colombia, Nicaragua, and Guatemala. This sporting activity gave participants an opportunity to break away from their daily routines, socialize, and build connections in a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
Among the participants was a large group of Nicaraguan workers employed by Fenêtre Magistral, a company in the region specializing in the manufacturing of doors and windows. Several mentioned that they were approaching the end of their three years of work in Québec and emphasized the importance of initiatives like this one in helping combat isolation and enjoy pleasant moments outside of work.
Beyond playing soccer, the gathering encouraged interaction among workers and helped strengthen ties within the community.
InfoTET from Immigrant Québec was present to introduce its program and services. On this occasion, Jonathan Buitrago, regional coordinator, presented the InfoTET Québec program and distributed the Guide for Temporary Foreign Workers. This document provides practical tools on TFWs’ rights and responsibilities, as well as essential information about services and resources available throughout Québec.
The presence of partner organizations also allowed workers to discover various resources tailored to their needs. Joshua Bankert from Cyclo Nord-Sud introduced, among other services, bicycle repair workshops and services available to workers in the region.
This activity highlights the importance of community initiatives that allow temporary foreign workers to meet one another, discover the resources available to them, and strengthen their connections with local organizations.
InfoTET extends its warm thanks to ABL Immigration, particularly Marjorie Régimbeau, Executive Director, and Gabrielle Rochon, as well as Joshua Bankert from Cyclo Nord-Sud, for their participation in this initiative and their commitment to temporary foreign workers.
