Saint-Fabien-de-Panet: Sports, Family, and Community with Temporary Foreign Workers

On August 22, a day full of energy, integration, and celebration took place in the heart of Saint-Fabien-de-Panet, in the Montmagny RCM, where a soccer match followed by a family party was organized for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) and members of the local community.

The event brought together around twenty TFWs who, in addition to enjoying sports, shared a friendly and warm moment with representatives from various organizations. The CNESST was present throughout the day to support the event and provide essential information on labor rights and safety.

This initiative was made possible thanks to the collaboration of several local and regional partners. Jonathan Buitrago, coordinator of the InfoTET program at Immigrant Québec, was also present. He took the opportunity to engage with the workers, listen to their stories, and strengthen the support networks available in the region.

Beyond sports, this kind of gathering helps build connections, share experiences, and ensure that workers have access to the information and support they need,” highlighted one of the organizers.

The event offered a great balance of physical activity, awareness, and cultural exchange, highlighting values of inclusion, well-being, and recognition for the important contribution of TFWs in rural areas of Quebec.

Through activities like this one, the organizers aim to strengthen the ties between temporary foreign workers and host communities, promoting not only safe working conditions but also spaces for integration and appreciation.
