Every year, thousands of Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) arrive in Quebec to play an essential role in key sectors such as agriculture, food processing, manufacturing, construction, and services. Their contribution is fundamental to the province’s economic and social development. However, their integration process can involve significant challenges.
Language barriers, limited knowledge of the administrative system, adapting to new norms, being separated from family, and, in some cases, situations of vulnerability are part of the reality many experience during their stay in Quebec.
Aware of this context, InfoTET by Immigrant Québec, thanks to funding from the Government of Canada, it promotes an information and support space specifically dedicated to Temporary Foreign Workers in the province. Its objective is to provide clear, accessible, and up-to-date tools to facilitate their integration and help them better understand the environment in which they live and work.
Clear Information for Informed Decisions
One of the main challenges for TFWs is understanding how the immigration system, labor market, and services in Quebec operate. A lack of accurate information can lead to uncertainty and confusion.
Through articles, practical resources, and outreach initiatives, InfoTET offers clear and accessible content that enables workers to:
- Better understand their professional environment.
- Learn about the resources available in the province.
- Stay informed about existing administrative processes.
- Understand how to access essential services.
Access to reliable information helps reduce misinformation and strengthens workers’ ability to adapt to life in Quebec with greater confidence and peace of mind.
Guidance and Support Across the Province
InfoTET’s impact is strengthened through collaboration with the 31 member organizations of the Migrant Worker Support Program (PSTM), located in different regions of Quebec.
Through this provincial network, information, resources, and initiatives are shared to respond to the real-life situations workers face on the ground. This collaboration makes it possible to reach TFWs in a way that is closer and better adapted to regional contexts.
By highlighting relevant topics and facilitating access to available resources, the project helps reduce isolation and promote stability and overall well-being among workers.
Building Community and Supporting Integration
Integration goes beyond the workplace or administrative matters. Emotional well-being, relationship-building, and a sense of belonging are equally essential.
In collaboration with PSTM organizations, various community initiatives, informational activities, and gathering spaces are organized across several regions of Quebec. Within this framework, InfoTET contributes by sharing information and supporting actions that foster a more human-centered and participatory integration process.
These initiatives help to:
- Reduce isolation;
- Strengthen social cohesion;
- Promote overall well-being;
- Encourage active participation in the community.
When workers feel informed, supported, and connected, their experience in Quebec becomes more positive, stable, and enriching.
A Commitment to the Integration of TFWs
The impact of InfoTET is reflected in the daily lives of Temporary Foreign Workers who find guidance, support, and tools that facilitate their integration and adaptation to life in Quebec.
By supporting TFWs with clear and accessible information, Immigrant Québec actively contributes to a more informed and inclusive integration process, thereby strengthening the province’s social fabric.
Supporting those who contribute to Quebec’s development also means investing in the province’s present and future.
