On July 30, 2025, the “Discovery Journey” took place — a free activity organized by Drummond économique, in which InfoTET had the pleasure of participating by accompanying a group of Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs). This initiative offered participants the opportunity to learn more about the history and key landmarks of the city of Drummondville in a warm and enriching atmosphere.
This guided walk, approximately 1.2 km long, allowed us to discover 12 iconic locations in downtown Drummondville, led by a local guide who shared the city’s history and development in a clear, dynamic, and engaging way for all.
For many of the TFWs present, it was their first time discovering these historical sites outside their work environment. Listening to stories from Drummondville’s past, learning about key figures, and understanding how the local community evolved gave them not only knowledge, but also a deeper connection to the place where they live and work.
At InfoTET, we deeply value this kind of initiative. We understand that TFWs face unique challenges — cultural adjustment, language barriers, and sometimes social isolation. Activities like this not only help them become more familiar with their environment, but also promote inclusion, a sense of belonging, and emotional well-being.
InfoTET Québec actively participated in the event, represented by its Regional Coordinator, Jonathan Buitrago, who took the opportunity to engage with the workers and reaffirm the organization’s commitment to providing human-centered and accessible support.
Copies of the InfoTET Québec Guide were distributed during the event. This essential document provides TFWs with clear information about their rights and responsibilities, available services, and support resources.
Beyond the educational aspect, it was truly rewarding to see participants sharing their experiences, laughing, asking questions, and fully enjoying the journey. As an organization dedicated to supporting TFWs, we are proud to be part of initiatives that strengthen the ties between foreign workers and host communities.
