New CNESST Awareness Campaign to Inform and Support Temporary Foreign Workers

The CNESST is currently conducting an awareness campaign titled “At Work, You Have Rights,” specifically aimed at temporary foreign workers (TFWs) as well as newcomers to Quebec for immigration reasons.

The goal is to inform them about their rights and obligations at work to ensure fair and safe conditions.

Information and Awareness Services for Temporary Foreign Workers

The Prevention Squad for TFWs offers free sessions year-round across various sectors to inform and raise awareness among temporary foreign workers about their rights and responsibilities at work.

These sessions, approximately 60 minutes long, are offered in Spanish, French, or English. They can be held directly at the workplace or virtually, depending on availability.

Topics covered include:

  • The rights and obligations of TFWs regarding labor standards, health, and safety.
  • Identifying risks present in their work environment.
  • Preventive measures to avoid accidents and occupational illnesses.
  • Resources available in case of injury or work-related illness.
  • Tools to facilitate effective communication with their workplace.

Benefits for Temporary Foreign Workers

Participating in these sessions allows TFWs to:

  • Better understand how to protect their health, safety, and labor rights.
  • Recognize and respond to potential risks.
  • Access resources and support if needed.
  • Strengthen their integration and well-being during their professional stay in Quebec.

CNESST also provides a series of publications for migrant workers, as well as an informational video offering practical tools. These resources are available on CNESST’s various platforms.
