As part of the InfoTET Québec program and in collaboration with several partner organizations, we recently carried out a tour across various municipalities in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region, including Mont-Joli, Matane, and Saint-Pascal.
During this visit, we had the valuable opportunity to meet with temporary foreign workers employed in a variety of sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, food processing, transportation, construction, hospitality, mechanics, painting, and welding, among others.
The individuals we engaged with came from several countries, including Guatemala, Colombia, Mexico, Côte d’Ivoire, Algeria, Cameroon, Madagascar, Ecuador, and Costa Rica—reflecting the rich cultural diversity they bring to our region.
Throughout the tour, we hosted workshops to introduce the InfoTET Québec program, alongside sessions focused on psychosocial support, health prevention, and workplace well-being led by CAFLA. Additionally, Ferme Contigo offered a workshop on driving in Québec and the risks associated with impaired driving (alcohol or drugs).
These gatherings not only allowed us to share useful information but also to gain a deeper understanding of the realities these workers face—their experiences, living situations, and access to regional services. This insight is essential for strengthening our support throughout their migration and professional journey. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the foreign workers who welcomed us with warmth and trust, and to the partner organizations for their invaluable collaboration, which makes this collective effort possible for the benefit of the entire community.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to all the organizations that participated — CAFLA, Ferme Contigo, Collectif régional de développement du Bas-Saint-Laurent, Accueil et Intégration Bas-Saint-Laurent, SANAM, and Services Accès Emploi — for their incredible support and partnership during this tour. Their commitment and teamwork were essential to the success of the activities and the strengthening of the support network for Temporary Foreign Workers in the region. Thank you for joining this shared effort and for helping to build a more inclusive and supportive environment for everyone.
