InfoTET Québec Shines at the Summer Solstice in La Malbaie

Saturday, June 21, 2025 | Parc du Havre, La Malbaie – The third edition of the Summer Solstice Festival, organized by the Newcomer Welcome Service (SANA) of Charlevoix–Côte-de-Beaupré, in collaboration with the Charlevoix-Est MRC and the City of La Malbaie, brought together over 500 visitors for an evening rich in culture and community spirit.

An Intercultural Event to Celebrate Diversity

The purpose of the festival was to celebrate the region’s cultural richness by bringing together both long-time residents and newcomers. The evening featured a wide variety of food kiosks, family-friendly activities, live music, and exotic dance performances that brought Parc du Havre to life at dusk.

A Strong Presence from InfoTET Québec

Among the thirty or so organizations present, InfoTET Québec, part of Immigrant Québec, hosted a booth to promote its program to temporary foreign workers (TFWs). Nicolas Bellier, project director at Immigrant Québec, and his team:

  • Provided information about the rights, responsibilities, and available services through the 31 organizations in the Migrant Workers Support Program (PSTM) across Québec.

  • Answered questions from TFWs attending the event.

  • Distributed nearly 100 InfoTET Québec informational guides.

  • Connected with various local stakeholders to explain the support program.

This booth complemented the on-site service offerings, further strengthening the support network for temporary foreign workers.

A Culinary and Cultural Journey

The food festival brought together a wide array of international cuisines: Moroccan, Japanese, Cameroonian, Lebanese, Mexican, Ivorian, French, and Québécois. This culinary diversity enriched the intercultural atmosphere that defined the evening.

In addition, the entertainment and artistic performances created a warm and welcoming setting where, as Charlie Mirailles, intercultural liaison officer, noted:

“Everyone eats well, everyone makes friends.”

The Importance of InfoTET Québec in Community Events

InfoTET Québec’s participation in events like the Summer Solstice Festival is essential for the following reasons:

  • Accessibility: Offering a direct point of contact for temporary foreign workers.

  • Visibility: Showcasing the commitment and expertise of InfoTET Québec and its partners, supported by the Government of Canada.

  • Networking: Fostering meaningful connections with local stakeholders and the broader community.

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Parc du Havre in La Malbaie came alive with the Summer Solstice Festival. The presence and active involvement of InfoTET Québec in this festive setting reinforces its mission to support, inform, and facilitate the integration of temporary foreign workers in Québec.
