Last weekend, a joyful day filled with soccer and diversity took place during the event “Game in Celebration – Goal for Diversity.” The activity brought together temporary foreign workers (TFWs) from Morocco, Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, and Cameroon, who are currently working in sectors such as agriculture, food processing (NORTERA), mechanics, and more.
In a festive and friendly atmosphere, two teams with names as creative as they are delicious — LOS TACOS-TOURTIÈRE and COUSCOUS-POUTINE — faced off in a friendly match. LOS TACOS-TOURTIÈRE took home the win with a score of 7–0. The game was officiated by a professional referee who ensured a respectful and fair match from start to finish.
Beyond the sport, the event served as an opportunity to share important information about workers’ rights and responsibilities in Quebec. Many participants took advantage of the moment to ask questions, especially about retirement — a topic that sparked great interest.
No celebration is complete without good food, and this one was no exception. A free tasting allowed attendees to enjoy the flavors of Mexico and Argentina, featuring tacos and empanadas with chimichurri that delighted everyone.
The halftime show was equally impressive: DUO DIFFO, finalists of the TV show Révolution, along with the percussion group STONDA, brought rhythm and high energy to the event with their talent and charisma.
Each player received a gift bag filled with helpful information about cycling regulations in Quebec (Cyclo Nord-Sud), materials from the CNESST, and the Temporary Foreign Workers Guide from InfoTET Immigrant Québec — a thoughtful gesture that reflects the commitment to supporting the integration and well-being of this valuable community.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to all the organizers, partners, and participants who made this event such a success. We’re already looking forward to the next edition — because when sports and diversity come together, it’s always a reason to celebrate.
