As part of our commitment to informing, guiding, and supporting Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs), InfoTET d’Immigrant Québec reaffirms its role in supporting their professional and social integration in Quebec. In this context, the Immigrant Québec team is pleased to present its new free guide, fully available online and adapted to all devices.
Titled “Understanding Your Rights and Obligations at Work in Quebec”, this guide was designed to help workers — both local and immigrant — navigate the Quebec labour environment in an informed, safe, and respectful manner.
Working in Quebec means being part of a system where the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees are clearly defined. However, for many Temporary Foreign Workers, these rules may seem complex or unfamiliar.
This guide was developed as a practical support tool, helping workers better understand the rules and mechanisms that protect employees in Quebec, as well as the steps to take when employment conditions are not respected.
The guide was produced with the financial participation of the Commission des normes, de l’équité, de la santé et de la sécurité du travail (CNESST), the organization responsible for enforcing labour standards, pay equity, and occupational health and safety in Quebec.
Thanks to this support, the guide provides clear, reliable, and up-to-date information on:
- Labour standards
- Pay equity
- Occupational health and safety
These elements are essential to promote fair and successful professional integration and to help Temporary Foreign Workers understand how to act when their rights are not respected.
The guide also offers clear answers to key questions, including:
- What are the minimum conditions your employer must respect?
- What are your rights regarding wages, work schedules, breaks, vacations, or termination of employment?
- What should you do in case of a workplace accident, harassment, or discrimination?
- What specific rules apply to immigrants and Temporary Foreign Workers?
How can you file a complaint confidentially and safely?
At InfoTET d’Immigrant Québec, we believe that access to clear and accessible information is essential to the well-being of Temporary Foreign Workers.
We invite all interested individuals to consult this free online guide, use it as a reference, and share it with other workers who may benefit from this information.
We will continue working to provide resources and support that foster successful integration, helping to strengthen the quality of life and inclusion of Temporary Foreign Workers in Quebec.
