Grand Finale of the X-Immigration Complex Soccer Tournament: Sports, Community, and Recognition

August 31, 2025 – Saint-Rémi, Quebec. This Sunday, a day full of emotion, energy, and togetherness took place during the grand finale of the soccer tournament organized by the X-Immigration Complex, with the valuable support of the Oscar Romero Foundation – Vision ML.

The event, held in Saint-Rémi, brought together over 900 Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) and members of the local community, who shared warm moments in a festive and welcoming atmosphere. The afternoon was marked by sports, music, and collective joy that accompanied the closing of the tournament.

In addition to the excitement of the decisive matches, participants enjoyed traditional dishes, music, and a spirit of camaraderie, adding a family and cultural touch to the celebration. It was a great opportunity to relax, connect, and recognize the efforts of those who, day after day, support essential sectors like agriculture.

Representing Immigrant Québec, Jonathan Buitrago and Alejandra Salas were present to speak directly with the workers, listen to their experiences, and distribute InfoTET guides—useful tools to help facilitate access to information, rights, and available services in the province.

The event also welcomed the presence of the Mexican Consulate, whose representatives delivered remarks recognizing the importance of temporary workers and strengthening collaborative ties between countries. Their participation was greatly appreciated by those in attendance, reinforcing institutional support for Mexican workers in Canada.

Events like this strengthen intercultural ties and promote spaces of well-being, inclusion, and recognition for those who make much of Quebec’s agricultural and rural development possible,” noted the organizers.

The grand finale of the soccer tournament was much more than a sporting competition: it was a true large-scale community celebration, reaffirming the commitment to building inclusive and empowering spaces for temporary foreign workers, whose contribution is essential to collective well-being.
