Discovering the Flavors of Quebec: Sugar Shack Lunch for TET in Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton

On Saturday, March 14, 2026, Temporary Foreign Workers (TET) had the opportunity to participate in the “Allons à la cabane!” activity, a traditional sugar shack lunch organized by Granby Industriel at Érablière Martin in Sainte-Cécile-de-Milton. The TET enjoyed an afternoon of sharing, learning, and exploring Quebec culinary traditions.

The participants, mostly from Cameroon but also from Colombia and Mexico, were able to taste typical dishes such as baked beans and eggs with maple syrup. For many, this was a completely new and surprising experience, yet all showed curiosity and openness in discovering these local specialties.

During the activity, Jonathan Buitrago, regional coordinator of InfoTET from Immigrant Québec, took the opportunity to present the InfoTET Québec program and distribute the informational guide for TET. This guide provides practical tools regarding rights, responsibilities, and available resources. The exchange allowed participants to ask questions, share personal experiences, and better understand the needs of workers, reinforcing InfoTET’s mission to provide clear and useful information during their stay in the province.

InfoTET would like to especially thank the organization and dedication of Gloria Amparo Brand Escobar, Conseillère en M.O Immigrante, whose efforts made it possible for the TET to experience an enriching and memorable cultural event. Activities like this strengthen social integration, promote cultural exchange, and provide joyful and meaningful moments for foreign workers in Quebec.
