Cinema in Saint-Paul-d’Abbotsford: A Night of Integration, Culture, and Community for TFWs

August 24, 2025 – Last Sunday night, the city of Saint-Paul-d’Abbotsford was the setting for a very special movie night that brought together Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs), families, friends, and local residents in a warm and joyful atmosphere.

The activity included a screening of the film Radical, an inspiring Mexican production that offered attendees a moving and meaningful story—perfect for reflection and sharing.

In addition to the movie, participants enjoyed delicious nachos and popcorn, which helped create a family-friendly, welcoming space ideal for connection. It was an excellent opportunity to strengthen ties between TFWs and the host community.

Representing Immigrant Québec was Jonathan Buitrago, coordinator of the InfoTET program, who took the opportunity to speak with the workers, hear their experiences firsthand, and reinforce the support networks available to them in the region.

“It was wonderful to see the workers, their families, and neighbors gathered in the same space, sharing such a special moment,” commented the organizers.

This event was made possible thanks to funding from the Government of Canada, through Immigrant Québec, with support from the Ville de Saint-Paul-d’Abbotsford and the MRC de Rouville. It is part of initiatives aimed at promoting inclusion, well-being, and recognition of temporary foreign workers in the province.

Activities like this reaffirm that culture, togetherness, and mutual respect are essential to building more united communities that are open to diversity.
