On January 14, a cultural workshop for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) was held at Les Serres Savoura, located in Sainte-Sophie in the Laurentides region. The activity provided an opportunity to introduce participants to the goals and resources of the InfoTET program.
The workshop, titled “Presentation of the Laurentides – practical tips on transportation, gastronomy, cultural activities, community life, and much more,” was coordinated by Deborah Lopez, liaison officer at CIE Laurentides (Centre d’intégration en emploi Laurentides), the local partner of InfoTET’s PSTM. More than twenty TFWs, mainly from Guatemala, El Salvador, and Mexico, attended. Despite starting their workday as early as 6 a.m., participants attended with enthusiasm, showing genuine interest and commitment that was highly appreciated by the organizers.
The workshop provided practical information about the Laurentides region to support social and community integration for TFWs. Key topics included transportation, local gastronomy, cultural activities, community life, and other essential aspects of daily life in Quebec.
During the activity, CIE Laurentides distributed the new edition of the InfoTET information guide and explained the purpose of the program, helping workers understand the services, resources, and tools available to support them in their journey in Quebec.
The session took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Participants shared a moment around pizzas and beverages and tried traditional Quebec desserts for the first time, such as sugar pie and carrot and walnut cake, creating spaces for interaction, dialogue, and connection.
Representatives from the Human Resources department at Les Serres Savoura were also present, reinforcing the message that workers have support from both their employer and community organizations.
At InfoTET of Immigrant Québec, we strongly believe that initiatives like this are essential to strengthen inclusion, inform TFWs, and ensure access to reliable information. We will continue to support actions that promote integration, well-being, and recognition for Temporary Foreign Workers who contribute actively to the development of our province.
