CAFLA (Center for Assistance to Latin American Families) is a community organization in Quebec that provides support services to the Latin American community, with a particular focus on health, well-being, and social support for temporary foreign workers (TFW), serving as a platform organization within our program, with province-wide coverage across Quebec and facilitating access to support tailored to the specific needs of TFWs.
As of October 11, 2025, CAFLA entered a new chapter with a change in its leadership. On this date, Cecilia Escamilla, founder of the organization, stepped down after a trajectory marked by exemplary commitment and a meaningful contribution to the community, leaving strong foundations for the future. Naomy Rendon assumed the role of Executive Director, bringing renewed energy and ensuring continuity in the work accomplished. From INFOTET’s perspective, we acknowledge and value Cecilia’s legacy, as well as Naomy’s leadership, in a spirit of recognition, continuity, and forward-looking vision.
At InfoTET d’Immigrant Québec, we reaffirm our commitment to inform, guide, and support Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) throughout their stay and work experience in Quebec. An essential part of this work is collaborating with community partners who provide specialized services tailored to the needs of TFWs. One of our key partners in this effort is CAFLA and its Temporary Migrant Workers Support Program (PTET‑CAFLA).
The Temporary Migrant Workers Support Program (PTET‑CAFLA) is specifically designed for Temporary Foreign Workers holding a closed work permit in Quebec. Its main objective is to ensure that TFWs have access to:
- Information on physical and mental health services
- Psychosocial support
- Workplace safety training
- Dialogue spaces for well-being
- A health helpline available in Spanish
This program was created to promote the overall health of TFWs, support them in daily challenges, and facilitate their integration into the Quebec community.
CAFLA understands that working far from family in a new and often demanding environment can present challenges not only physically but also emotionally. That is why PTET‑CAFLA provides:
- Access to health information in Spanish, both in-person and online
- Awareness and prevention materials on workplace risks and general health
- Individual and group psychosocial support
- Active listening and emotional support, even in situations of stress or isolation
Their motto, “Good health, well informed”, emphasizes the importance for workers not only to know their rights but also to have resources that protect and strengthen their well-being during their stay in Quebec.
The partnership between InfoTET d’Immigrant Québec and CAFLA is based on a common goal: to ensure that TFWs feel supported in all aspects of their work and life experience in Quebec. While InfoTET provides reliable information on labor rights, housing, community services, and legal resources, CAFLA contributes a community and holistic health approach that complements this support.
At InfoTET, we encourage all Temporary Foreign Workers to:
- Discover and use the PTET‑CAFLA services
- Share this information with colleagues and support networks
- Access health, well-being, and guidance resources in their preferred language, such as Spanish
Collaboration between organizations like InfoTET and CAFLA strengthens the support network for TFWs in Quebec, contributing to their social integration, health, and quality of life.
We wish to express our sincere gratitude to CAFLA for being a committed partner and part of the PSTM. Their dedication and comprehensive approach to TFW health, well-being, and support make it possible for more workers to feel supported, informed, and accompanied throughout their work and life experience in Quebec.
