Festive Evening in Nicolet for Temporary Foreign Workers. Celebration of Diversity and Agricultural Work.

Nicolet, Quebec – On Saturday, June 28th, the city of Nicolet came alive with music, flavors, and smiles during a vibrant festive evening dedicated to Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs).

Organized by AGRIcarrières in collaboration with CJE Nicolet-Bécancour and the PAYS project (Welcoming and Solidarity Integration Project), the event brought together more than 250 agricultural workers in an atmosphere of joy, appreciation, and camaraderie.

This celebration was the perfect opportunity to highlight the essential contribution of Temporary Foreign Workers to Quebec’s agricultural sector. With a program focused on well-being and integration, the evening aimed to strengthen the bonds between workers, community organizations, and the host community.

During the evening, traditional dishes were shared, music from various cultures enlivened the event, and many warm exchanges took place among the participants. The atmosphere was marked by respect, openness, and the celebration of diversity.

InfoTET Quebec actively participated in the event, represented by its project director, Nicolas Bellier, who took the opportunity to engage with workers, distribute informational materials, and reaffirm the organization’s commitment to providing supportive and accessible assistance.

Copies of the Temporary Foreign Worker Guide in Quebec were distributed. This essential document offers newcomers clear information about their rights, available services, and support resources.

Key partners of the Migrant Workers Support Program (MWSP) were also present, including:

  • Justice Pro Bono

  • FERME (Foundation of Companies Recruiting Foreign Agricultural Workers)

  • CNESST (Commission for Standards, Equity, Health, and Workplace Safety)

  • The Consulate of Guatemala

Their presence provided valuable information and helped strengthen collaborative efforts to improve working conditions for migrant workers.

With dancing, delicious food, smiles, and hugs, this evening left a lasting impression. Much more than just a party, it was a genuine gesture of collective appreciation—a way to say thank you to those who, through their daily work, keep Quebec’s agriculture thriving.

InfoTET Quebec extends its sincere thanks to AGRIcarrières, partner organizations, the many volunteers, and all the participants for their trust and presence.

An unforgettable evening and a great step toward a more humane and supportive integration!
