Why is this amount deducted from your paycheck? It is a public plan that provides benefits to people who take time off work because of the birth or adoption of a child. Just like with QPP, <\/span><b>this is not money your employer keeps<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It is a contribution to a public plan.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The amount deducted depends on your income and the rules that apply to QPIP. That is why the QPIP amount shown on your pay stub may vary from one pay period to another.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Gross pay \u2192 QPIP contribution \u2192 Net pay<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The QPIP contribution is one of the amounts that can reduce your net pay. QPIP works as a public insurance plan.
