information on updated unemployment rate data by\u00a0census\u00a0metropolitan area (CMA).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Unemployment rate data by CMA (seasonal unadjusted) is used as part of a measure introduced in September 2024 for the processing of\u00a0Labour\u00a0Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) applications under the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFW Program).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">Since September 26, 2024, and until further notice, LMIA applications are not processed if all the conditions below are met:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul data-editing-info=\"{&quot;applyListStyleFromLevel&quot;:true}\">\n<li data-ogsc=\"black\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\" data-ogsc=\"\">The wage offered for the position(s) requested is below the\u00a0<span data-ogsc=\"rgb(70, 120, 134)\"><a id=\"OWA9b31b61a-09cd-3e2a-c301-697d9e4102fb\" class=\"x_OWAAutoLink\" title=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/services\/foreign-workers\/median-wage.html\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/services\/foreign-workers\/median-wage.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"9\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(70, 120, 134)\"><u data-ogsc=\"\">provincial or territorial wage threshold<\/u><\/a><\/span>\u00a0(low-wage positions);\u00a0<b data-ogsc=\"\">and<\/b><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(70, 120, 134)\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\" data-ogsc=\"\"><a id=\"OWAeec36626-b2f6-a3f1-c2cc-06bc5d14ba61\" data-ogsc=\"black\">;\u00a0<b data-ogsc=\"\">and<\/b><\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li data-ogsc=\"rgb(70, 120, 134)\">\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\" role=\"presentation\" data-ogsc=\"\"><a id=\"OWA683df3a9-18dd-8e91-615c-8bcf972b66cf\" class=\"x_OWAAutoLink\" title=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/services\/foreign-workers\/refusal.html#h2.2.3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/services\/foreign-workers\/refusal.html#h2.2.3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"11\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(70, 120, 134)\"><u data-ogsc=\"\">The unemployment rate of the CMA where the work is located is 6% or higher<\/u><\/a><span data-ogsc=\"black\"> on\u00a0the TFW Program quarterly table at the time the LMIA application is\u00a0submitted.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\"><b data-ogsc=\"\">On\u00a0April\u00a010, 2026, the table of\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span data-ogsc=\"rgb(70, 120, 134)\"><a id=\"OWA9fa71189-ff02-c9ba-1683-b78639dd9b67\" class=\"x_OWAAutoLink\" title=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/services\/foreign-workers\/refusal.html#:~:text=Table%3A%20Unemployment%20rates%20by%20CMA%20and%20period\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/services\/foreign-workers\/refusal.html#:~:text=Table%3A%20Unemployment%20rates%20by%20CMA%20and%20period\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"12\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(70, 120, 134)\"><b data-ogsc=\"\"><u data-ogsc=\"\">unemployment rates by CMA<\/u><\/b><\/a><\/span><span data-ogsc=\"black\"><b data-ogsc=\"\">\u00a0was updated on the TFW Program website.<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">As usual, the table is automatically updated on a quarterly basis\u00a0in accordance with\u00a0Statistics Canada&#8217;s publication dates. Upcoming updates are scheduled for\u00a0July, October, and\u00a0January.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_elementToProof\"><span data-ogsc=\"black\">As a reminder, certain low-wage positions are exempt from this refusal to process\u00a0measure.
