On <\/span>March 7, 2026<\/b>, <\/span>InfoTET<\/b><\/a> Qu\u00e9bec participated in the <\/span>basketball tournament for Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs)<\/b>, organized by the <\/span>Corporation de d\u00e9veloppement \u00e9conomique de la MRC de Montmagny (CDEMM)<\/b><\/a>. The event brought together nearly <\/span>100 people<\/b>, including <\/span>8 teams and 80 players<\/b>, accompanied by their families, who cheered and supported participants throughout the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants traveled from several regions of Quebec, including <\/span>Chaudi\u00e8re-Appalaches, Capitale-Nationale, Mauricie, Mont\u00e9r\u00e9gie, Bas-Saint-Laurent, and Montreal<\/b>, highlighting the importance of these sporting events as spaces for integration, social connection, and strengthening the TFWs community. The players were mainly of <\/span>Malagasy and Filipino<\/b> origin, adding a valuable multicultural dimension that enriched the tournament experience.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The activity took place on <\/span>two courts<\/b>, with group matches in the morning, followed by <\/span>quarterfinals, semifinals, and the grand final<\/b> in the afternoon. After exciting and competitive matches, <\/span>the team from the Philippines emerged as the tournament winner<\/b>, while all participants displayed exemplary sportsmanship. The event was filled with enthusiasm, respect, and camaraderie, with families actively supporting their players.<\/span><\/p>\n

The activity would not have been possible without the collaboration of local referees, volunteers, and team members, who helped organize the games and ensured the day ran safely and smoothly. <\/span>InfoTET<\/b><\/a> wishes to express special thanks to <\/span>M\u00e9lissa Fnidiki<\/b>, PSTM coordinator at <\/span>CDEMM<\/b><\/a>, for her effort and dedication; as well as to volunteer Lynda, whose commitment was fundamental to the success of the tournament.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

During the activity, <\/span>Nicolas Bellier, Project Director of <\/b>InfoTET<\/b><\/a> from Immigrant Qu\u00e9bec<\/b>, presented the <\/span>InfoTET<\/b><\/a> Qu\u00e9bec program<\/b> and distributed the <\/span>TFWs information guide<\/b>, providing practical tools regarding <\/span>rights, obligations, and available resources<\/b>. This exchange allowed questions to be answered, participants\u2019 experiences to be heard, and their realities better understood, strengthening <\/span>InfoTET<\/b><\/a>\u2019s mission to provide <\/span>clear and useful information to TFWs<\/b> during their stay in the province.<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the competitive aspect, the tournament demonstrated how sport can be a <\/span>catalyst for social and cultural integration<\/b>, creating spaces for TFWs to connect, build friendships, and feel fully part of the community. Participants expressed excitement about future editions, demonstrating the positive impact of these initiatives on their well-being and on social cohesion in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
