Access to reliable information is a key tool to prevent abusive situations and to help TFWs make informed and safe decisions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this context, on Friday, January 30, 2026, we had the pleasure of participating in the free information session <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cTenants\u2019 Rights and Obligations\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, organized by <\/span><b>Granby Industriel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to <\/span><b>Gloria Amparo Brand Escobar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for her excellent work and dedication in organizing this data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The session brought together nearly 50 temporary foreign workers from Colombia, Guatemala, Cameroon, and Senegal, who showed strong interest in better understanding how the rental system works in Quebec. The main objective of the workshop was to inform participants about their rights and responsibilities as tenants, in order to prevent abusive situations and clarify common concerns, particularly in light of recent changes related to rent increases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The session was highly dynamic and interactive. TFWs raised concrete questions based on real-life situations, including:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When can a worker leave their housing if they wish to move?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Is it possible to terminate a lease in the event of job loss?<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What actions can be taken if the housing conditions are unsanitary<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">What happens if rent cannot be paid following a loss of employment?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-90b7407 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"90b7407\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-162af67\" data-id=\"162af67\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8c339e6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8c339e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This session helped demystify many situations experienced by TFWs, addressed their concerns, and provided practical tools to better defend their housing rights. It also highlighted the importance of being well informed before signing a lease and of seeking support when facing difficulties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infotetquebec.com\/en\/\"><b>InfoTET<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s regional coordinator, <\/span><b>Jonathan Buitrago<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, took the opportunity to present the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infotetquebec.com\/en\/\"><b>InfoTET<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Qu\u00e9bec program to participants and distribute the new edition of the informational guide for temporary foreign workers. This direct interaction allowed for questions to be answered, experiences to be shared, and a deeper understanding of workers\u2019 real needs, further strengthening <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infotetquebec.com\/en\/\"><b>InfoTET<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s mission of guidance and support.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.infotetquebec.com\/en\/\"><b>InfoTET<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, we value initiatives like this one that strengthen the autonomy and protection of temporary foreign workers.
