A warm welcome at the airport marks the beginning of a new agricultural season<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On July 30, 2025, a group of 45 Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) from El Salvador arrived in Quebec to begin a new professional chapter in the agricultural sector. InfoTET Qu\u00e9bec, in collaboration with FERME Contigo and the Consulate of El Salvador, had the privilege of being present at the airport to offer them a warm and respectful welcome.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The goal of this initiative was to ensure that, from the moment of their arrival, the workers had access to clear and essential information about their rights, responsibilities, and the resources available to them in Canada. During the welcome, many questions were answered on-site, helping to clear up uncertainties and allowing them to begin their professional stay in a climate of trust.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

After arriving, the TFWs went to Service Canada to obtain their Social Insurance Number (SIN), an essential step in order to work legally. Their employer then transported them by bus to their new workplace: the Pitre farm, located in Lac-des-\u00c9corces, Quebec, where they will join the team for the agricultural season.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

At InfoTET Qu\u00e9bec, we place great value on this type of coordinated action, which not only aims to provide a dignified welcome but also to strengthen the ties between workers, support organizations, and consular authorities. These first encounters are essential to creating a more human, safe, and supported environment.<\/p>\n

Copies of the TFW Guide to Quebec<\/em> were distributed by Jonathan Buitrago, Regional Coordinator \u2014 a document that provides workers with clear information on their rights and responsibilities, available services, and support resources.<\/p>\n

We would especially like to thank FERME Contigo as well as the Consulate of El Salvador, particularly Consul Sandra, for their commitment and active presence at the arrival. This kind of collaboration shows that, when efforts are united, it is possible to create more positive experiences for those who come to contribute\u2014through their work and dedication\u2014to Quebec\u2019s agricultural economy.<\/p>\n
