On July 18, a very special afternoon took place in Coaticook. In this small Quebec town, known for its warm hospitality and strong ties to the agricultural sector, dozens of Temporary Foreign Workers (TFWs) gathered to enjoy a sports-filled day on the local soccer field.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event was organized by <\/span>Actions Interculturelles de D\u00e9veloppement et d’\u00c9ducation (AIDE)<\/b> as part of ongoing community integration efforts aimed at supporting TFWs, who play an essential role in the region\u2019s agricultural economy. We accompanied these workers in a space dedicated to recreation, dialogue, and togetherness, where soccer served as the perfect way to break cultural barriers and strengthen human connections.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The main participants were TFWs from Guatemala<\/strong>, along with several workers from Mexico<\/strong> and countries across the African continent<\/strong>. Throughout the day, the enthusiasm and energy on the field were undeniable, with each team giving their all in every match. A highlight of the event was the participation of local Quebec residents who joined the games, creating a vibrant atmosphere of inclusion and mutual respect.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing how sports bring people together from different backgrounds, languages, and cultures reminds us of how important these spaces are to promote integration and collective well-being.<\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Beyond the joy of the game, the event also offered a chance to talk with workers about their working conditions, their experience in Quebec, and the challenges they face on a daily basis. Many of them are employed in businesses focused on pine processing, pig farming, or poultry production<\/strong>\u2014sectors that heavily rely on their dedication and hard work.<\/span><\/p>\n

These gatherings are not just moments of fun and relaxation\u2014they are also opportunities to highlight the essential contribution of TFWs<\/strong> to the economic and social development of rural communities in Quebec.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

InfoTET Qu\u00e9bec<\/b> actively took part in the event, represented by its Regional Coordinator, <\/span>Jonathan Buitrago<\/b>, who took the opportunity to connect with the workers and reaffirm the organization\u2019s commitment to providing human-centered and accessible support.<\/span><\/p>\n

Copies of the <\/span>Temporary Foreign Worker Guide in Quebec<\/span><\/i> were distributed. This essential document provides TFWs with clear information about their rights and responsibilities, available services, and support resources.<\/span><\/p>\n
