After this six-month period, if they do not have an <\/span><b>international driver\u2019s permit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, they are required to apply for a <\/span><b>Quebec driver\u2019s license<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>One Key Requirement: The Country That Issued the Foreign License<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are two possible scenarios:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The person <\/span><b>holds a driver\u2019s license issued at least one year ago<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by another <\/span><b>Canadian province<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the <\/span><b>United States<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or a <\/span><b>country that has a reciprocal agreement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with Quebec;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Or<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Their driver\u2019s license was issued by a <\/span><b>country that does not have a reciprocal agreement<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with Quebec.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><b>List of Countries with a Reciprocal Agreement:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Germany<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Austria<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Belgium<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">France<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Great Britain<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: England, Wales, and Scotland<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Isle of Man<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Northern Ireland<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Japan<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Netherlands<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Holland and the Dutch Caribbean (Sint Maarten, Aruba, Bonaire, Cura\u00e7ao, Saba, and Sint Eustatius)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Republic of Korea (South Korea)<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Switzerland<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Taiwan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the first case, the person can simply exchange their original driver\u2019s license for a Quebec driver\u2019s license.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In the second case, they must pass a Class 5 road test in order to obtain one.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What changes as of June 5, 2025?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The change specifically applies if the newly arrived person <\/span><b>fails the road test<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.
